FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF EPIGALLOCATECHIN GALLATE AND BERBERINE-LOADED CHITOSAN NANOPARTICLES

Objective: The current work aimed to prepare and characterize epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)+berberine-loaded chitosan nanoparticle (EBNP). Methods: ionic gelation method was adopted. A batch of 17 nanoformulations prepared by using as a natural biodegradable polymer EGCG+berberine active drug content characterised. Results: SEM data proved that the chitosan-based nanoparticles were formed successfully with spherical shape at 272 nm along PDI 0.346. FT-IR spectra confirmed no drug-polymer interaction observed. DSC formation due presence endothermic sharp melting points 246 °C 332 for EGCG berberine in pure form drug, whereas same is absent nanoformulation. optimized formulation showed percentage entrapment efficiency (% EE) 83.91 % 90.62%, ZP 11 mV. Conclusion: This study demonstrated box–behnken designs can optimize process variables achieve favorable responses. Hence, it be concluded best-optimized characterized.
